I'm currently in the process of upgrading my 1988 325i Sport with some options, that it didn't have from the factory. Everything is original parts.

I like my BMW's authentic thus I have decided that this particular car should be totally standard.

I have installed the top hifi system available in 1988 from the factory, the BMW Sound System.

In stead of getting the 1988 BMW CD head unit that uses catridges, I have opted for the E36 BMW BUSINESS CD. It's a plug and play fit.

Everything works. But the sound is very bad. I had a friend, that works with Hifi development, take a look, and his best guess is that the head unit is feeding the amplifier with amplified signals and not a the line signal it should.

According to my knowledge the BMW Business CD radio should work with amplified systems and direct connection to speakers. But I'm thinking that it needs to be told what kind of system it is working with.

Anyone have some ideers?
Why is there not enough time to do it right, but allways enough time to fix the errors - I borrowed that, just so reallistic in my line of work.

If you're referring to the CD43 head unit then to my knowledge it doesn't offer line out signals, and you will need a line converter between the HU and your amp.
