When i bought my 320 it had a awful kenwood cd player.

Anyway ive always had alpine head units that i could play iphone/ipod threw, I sold my old alpine unit with past car as i didn't want anything to modern, as it would look out of place.

I was looking at options such as putting new head unit in glove box and putting an original cassette player in dash??
But i dont want to have to go into glove box to change songs.

Anyone tried to do anything similar?

I was looking on ebay and found this

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... t_1139

this is too old but is the general idea. Anyone know where or if this can be done to any cassette player??

The only Blaupunkts with the 3.5mm jack lead socket its the SQR88 called either the Memphis or Woodstock and the SQR48 called the Nashvile.

Try ebay.de or ebay.com.

so it wont just plug in and work? suppose that would be too straight forward :(

I bought my alpine unit when i was in Canada as it was alot cheaper at the time forgetting about the different frequency waves, never got radio to work here.

The woodstock is coming from germany, radio will work right?

Yes the radio will work fine over here.

The amp is just plug and play. They use an 8 pin DIN lead instead of an RCA type lead.

I'am going to have a go at amping the blaupunkt in my Sport. if it sounds ok i think i will leave it in.

the amp ive bought supports high gain input so all you need to do is run the normal speaker output wire from the radio to the high gain input on the amp, then i will have 4x 100w Rms from a 25 year old blaupunt. looking at it, it supports some sort of old school CD changer so hopefully i can get an adaptor to run my mp3 player from it 8)

Sorry to go off topic, do you know if you can get new stereo fasica's from blaupunkt Barry?

Not sure on spares back up for these units. I'm pretty sure you can get mechanical and electrical parts but not sure on fascias.

What model blaupunkt do you have Alex?

Alex, unfortunately the SQR 47 doesn't have an input of any description.

Its tape/radio only with no CD input.

There is an 8 pin DIN output so with one of the leads i posted up in an ebay link a few posts ago, you can use any amp with a phono/RCA input instead of using a high level input type amp.

Here is a link to an SQR 47 (named Heildelberg for the German market) with a pic of the back showing the connections.

Sorry to jump in and hijack this, Barry, do you know if the Granada Sqr 49 is compatible with a ipod. I have one which I still need to install but havent got round to it yet. I was just gonna use the tape deck for playing an ipod with the wire from the tape cassette thing, but would be awesome to have it wored in properly.

If not, I can always run the ipod via my amp but not sure about how I would switch between the stereo and the ipod without unplugging it all the time. :?

You would just turn the radio down, although i would imagine the volume on the ipod would be quite sensitive when turning it up and down

Jim, i found this wiring diagram for the SQR 49 Granada/Dusseldof and it doesn't appear to have an input for audio.

Image

The SQR 49 Bremmen/Atlanta on the other had has a CD changer input but this is a totaly different head unit.

Thanks for that fella. :) My friend who I had the stereo off has the manuals for me in his van, i'll kept them there til I get round to fitting it as I'll loose them else. :?

If like you said, there is no audio in, I may well try to wire in a seperate headunit elsewhere and very out of sight that can be controlled somehow elsewhere, as I really want to fit this headunit into the car as I think it looks awesome.

I want to fit some rear 'subs' etc with amp, but need to do this in the discreetest mannor so you cant tell its even in the boot unless you know the exact sizing. :) Will have photos when I get round to it.

Ski hatch sub? I was going to build in a compartment into the boot wall space at the back, try and run it as thin as possible with the thinnest amp and speakers built into their own shelfs, then an inch or so gap on that with side vents so not viewable from looking into the boot, then board that and run a new carpet up it to hide it all in. :D Underseat sub will still be viewable, I dont want to see it at all.

Respect Alex! Its the same head unit as the one i have, the SQR88 Memphis!

The model nunber is the SQR88 which was called the Memphis in the UK and the Woodstock in Germany.

I think its a year out for your car but it looks perfectly fine in any E30 and is on of the top spec Blaupunkt units.

You can used this head unit with a separate blaupunkt Amp and EQ if you fancy them?
