I'm behind the stock head unit (85 318i 2 door) and I have the power / earth / ignition plug, and a left and right speaker plug.
Thats it.
Now, I have the fader control out as well, and I'm wondering where these speaker wires are? Is there a factory amp in the E30? and if so where is it?

what other wires were you expecting to find?
factory amps were fitted in the inner rear wing i believe - and drew their power from the electric aerial feed - that's the red and white cables that run across the floorpan on the passengers side for uk cars.
if you're replacing the headunit are you not bothering to feed through improved speaker cables? it makes sense you know....
