with a CD head unit of the same brand? Or is there more to it than that?

Lack of a decent sound system is driving me nuts. It needs an overhaul but thought I'd start with a basic upgrade to CD player.

Will I need an adapter or can I just plug'n'play?

It's a pioneer if that makes any difference.

it is really very easy to do and yes there are adaptor plugs available, but if not why not just fit it your self, you only really need a soldering iron and some insulation tape for a basic job, or even better heat shrink tube.

if you want to have a go then let me know and i will tell yopu what you will find in terms of wires and where they should go

I have no problem with doing it myself. I'm fairly handy with a soldering iron.
Any pointers welcome.

I already have a couple of cd players but they're not pioneer like the cassette if that makes any difference. I just thought that replacing like brand with like might have simplified matters.
