So I have a plan for a sub in the tourer.
Spare wheel well.
Remove spare wheel (keep in shed, use tyre foam if need be) and take a grp mould from the wheel well.
Build this up so its nice and thick, flat mdf bonded (with grp) but with holes cut for the sub and vent(s) and then glue on some black (grey in my case) carpet on the top to hide it from view and of course lets the dogs stand on it.
Amp in the corner hidden away as well.
Good idea or bad?

Can and has been done, might be best to keep it a sealed box though. I can imagine loads of crap going in the box through a vent which faces upwards.
I hope that your no planing to put carpet over the subwoofer

I did a similar thing to my old T5R a few years back
Although that had a false floor so it was easy to stay protected

It would sit nicely with the Punch150HD,Power 100 and Denon DCA 800 or with the series 1 Genesis SM amps I have in another setup

Was thinking about a fibreglass wheel well box the other day (albeit for a different car!!).
I would definately stick to a sealed enclosure!!
similar to your suggestion, i would recess the sub so i can put a decent grille across it while keeping the top of the enclosure flat with the floor, then just chuck the middle bit of carpet back in place when i need to use the boot!!!
Loving the idea, but i blatantly won't get round to making one until at least next summer!! Lol!!
I reckon you could stick in a nice 12" in a E30 well with a bit of wadding in the box, if you make it to fill all the space, though i've not worked out the volume!!!
I was thinking about maybe using a 10" in a smaller box though, so i can move it from car to car easily!!
