have you drilled the clamps onto the sill?
There's one row of clips which are held onto the sill with 'expanding rivets' and another row of push on clamps which literally clamp the bottom edge to the lip on the bottom of the sill. (a bit hard to explain it all)
BMW sell a 'drilling rig' for all the holes you need to drill for the kit, but I'd hate to know the price, I think it comes to about Ԛ£25 (and that just tells you where to drill holes!)

the sills on a cabby are deeper than a tin top due to the extra stiffening, therefore tintop sills dont fit a cabby properly im afraid
No longer self employed but still available for welding duties.

yeah cheers guys i know its hard to explane what you mean but i get what your saying my brother has a sport and his kit was factory fitted and i know the problem with the skirts not being wide enough for under the car, i was just wondering if anyone has made these skirts fit as the clips to hold these skirts to the cab aint going to reach. if anyone has done this with sucsess please share your info. and if not it looks like im reaching back into the old pocket:( thanx again martin

You can make them fit I just did this,
the bottom part of the skirt wont reach the lip it just hangs down so best just cut this off, the clips that hold the top of the skirt to the sill are different for a cab to a hard top so get propper cab ones.
then at the ends you will see slits so they can open up you need to make these a bit longer and wider

could you be more specific? give more details?woodysjw wrote:You can make them fit I just did this,

1. in order to install the clips that hold the top of the skirt to the sill, you need to drill? i think yes, tha holes that the car allready has to hold the trim are not enough. You had a driling jig to make the holes?
2. what you mean by "then at the ends you will see slits so they can open up you need to make these a bit longer and wider"
3. you dont hold it at all at the bottom part? (at the lip of the sill i mean)
4. as it can not move right up (because the sill makes a curve until the lip at the bottom) you have put it a bit out than it should be?
5. have a pic to see how it looks???

where the skirt meets the sill at the top you need to get proper Convertible clips otherwise it wont fit. Buy them from BM.
then the bottom of the skirt that should meet the metal lip of the sil wont meet so just get the grinder out and cut it off other wise it will just look crap. the where the ends of the skirt sits in the arches at the front and back look under the skirt here u will see a cut out. this needs to be extended buy about an inch to allow the sideskirt to fit more under the car.
thats it
