Hi,

to remove the front speakers from a convertible, is there a way of removing the panels without removing the plastic sill?
If I do have to remove the sill, is just a case of removing the plastic pins and lifting off?

Yep, remove the 4/5 plastic pins and then lift it off. You will also have to unclip the seatbelt plastic thingy. Then remove the door rubber strip and the panel will slide out.

For the passenger side, you will have to unbolt the bonnet catch lever, 2 8mm nuts IIRC and then same method as above.

to correctly answer the question...no you dont need to remove the plastic sill trim.

remove the screw that holds the cover on, remove a small portion of the door rubber, remove two bolts for the bonnet release (if applicable) remove the speaker cover, remove the three remainig screws for the speaker, remove the speaker

Got these out last night, I didn't have to remove the trim, though there was some muttering of "please don't break" to the kick panels.
