What wires!

Can anyone please tell me where these wires from the rear of the head unit go;

Black I know goes to the brown
Red
Yellow

Pic inserted as I have no idea what the grey and red stripe(top of pic with no end on) does
Also there is a grey with violet stripe one.

i have blown about three fuses and get no lights on the headunit so any help would help

ok this is the set up for my 87 e30

Black from head unit to Brown in dash
Yellow from head unit to red/green stripe in dash
Red from head unit to grey/violet stripe in dash

Not much help, but don't you have a 12v tester?
As far as I know, one is Perm Live, One is switched live, one is earth.

Black of your h/u should be earth
Yellow will be Fused perm live(Memory)
Red should be Fused switched live.

hi Rav sorry I should have mentioned in my last post that I took the wiring diagram from a fellow e30 hope this will maybe help others as the wire loom from the radio dash can be confusing if you dont have a tester.
