Just a quick question/thought about head units:
I have a Blaupunkt Toronto in my 1989 Sport which I believe to be original. Is this feasible? It is in full working order and looks in great shape - perhaps too good to be 21 years old. Particularly pleasing is the black fully functioning aerial that it is strapped to, but I digress!
I am looking for solutions to the tape problem and believe I can hide a Parrot kit in the car to maintain aesthetic originality. I plan to put the volume control in the ash tray (a thoroughly replaceable item) which will hide nicely when closed. I will try to put the wires for the iPod either in the drivers door bin or the glove box. The only issue is whether or not to go for the screen that they come with and thus the dilemma as to where to locate it. I'm thinking a removable mount on the drivers side air vent. I also think about putting a subtle amp somewhere and then run components in original locations. Trouble with this is that I may lose functionality of the head unit.
If the stereo is original then I think I will be happy with the plan.
If anyone has any better ideas for hooking up a modern sound system (I'm certainly no expert), whilst still maintaining the original looks, then any advice would be gladly received.

Use an amp with High Input sound so you can wire up the old radio to it, and possible use the lowinput RCA's for an ipod with wire dangling out in glovebox ???

Thanks Guys,
I think I'd like to keep the original stereo but I will have to explore alternative music sources as unfortunately it doesn't sound great! I like the idea of it looking original, but will always keep the Toronto if I swap head units and that way I can quickly swap them back for various events etc...

Ditto above. I keep my original and use an Alpine for everyday use.
