Hi,
Please excuse if this has been asked before, but can anyone tell me if it is possible to weld up a 5 stud pattern alloy and get it redrilled to 4x100 fitment?
If this is possible what are the implications for the wheel?
I have seen it mentioned on european cars but a quick ring around various engineering / welding firms here didn't produce any positive results.
Anyone know of anywhere in the UK where I can get this done?
I have been lusting after some old german alloys made only in 5 stud patterns.
Thanks

You're better off getting 4-stud to 5-stud adaptors.

your better off buying 4 stud wheels, or converting to five stud hubs
those adaptors whilst probably being unsafe wil also puch your wheels out by more than an inch.
and to answer your question, yes you could fill the holes by MIG welding, and then yes you could drill four new holes, and yes the welds could break and the wheels fall off, but as you already know you will not find many reputable garages who will do it, best bet is to look in the back street welding shops where they are not too fussy, they are also not too good which means your job will be of poor quality, which brings me back to..and yes the wleds could break and the wheels fall off

Been DONE plenty of times... yes you may hear the horror stories of "this and that happened"..
i personally dont KNOW of anybody outta bout 7 people who have had issues with it...!!
Same with adapters.. alot pestimestic old fashion people will put downers on it..
However, they'll need to consider... the width of the center of the wheel, and also the current PCD spacing..
get some pics up mate!!

Thanks for the comments.
I have been looking into the welding and redrilling option as I want to avoid adaptors / backstreet solutions.
I've been looking at many types of rims but keep coming back to these ones.
They are Remotec basket weaves, found on e28s, Mercedes and Porsches of 80s vintage.
They don't come in 4 stud patterns in a 16 inch diameter, although there is an Aussie member on here who has 16s in a 4 stud pattern who swears they left the factory like that.
Just need to find a safe, permanent way around the wrong stud pattern problem...
