My number plates are starting to look a little shabby so thought i may as well upgrade to some pressed german style jobbies but i'm not sure how to attach them.

Untill now i have always used screws with normal plastic plates but i'd rather use some of that number plate tape on my new pressed metal plates as i dont really like the idea of drilling holes in them.

Anyone else use tape and if so what do you use, i've never been a big fan of tape due to the fact that you can loose your plate so easy.

Any other ideas?? waht about using some kind of bond?

I was thinking about getting some of the BMW M power surrounds not sure if they work in the same way as the ones you have pictured where did you get them from??

I'm guessing with the BMW ones you screw the surround in and fix the number plate to the surround somehow

I got my german plates and surrounds from http://www.theplateman.com/home.htm
When the rules changed I got my UK font, spacing etc for the same place.

You screw the surround to the existing screw holes and the plates just clip in as per the above picture, handy if you wand to swap in show plates.

No hassel but like I say once they firmed up the rules I stopped using the German style plates.
I had the Plateman make me up pressed plates in the correct UK colour, font, spacing etc. Still not technically legal but never been pulled for them.

i've had my german plates on for a few years and never had any problems at all apart from mr MOT man putting some tape over the euro 'D' part :D they are the correct colours though and none of stadt stickers etc.

i still have my old plates in the boot and it's a 2 min job to swap them over. the overall plates size should be the same, i can swap my UK plates for the german ones in the surrounds i got from theplateman.
