I too would like to know the answer to this; is there any build threads I can take something from?

Quality set of OEM size 5.25" components with tweeters. Infiniti seems to be good.

MB Quart - Discus Range
Focal Polyglass
Kicker
All don't need amplifiers.

Then you can get bigger and better

Focal K2P
DLS
Rockford Fosgate
Pioneer PRS Range
Hybrid Audio

All work in the E30 . All depends on budget.

I fitted 5 1/4 JVC two ways to the front and they fit nicely behind the kick panels for an original look.
Then buy some OE tweeter sails (eBay is a good source), remove the old Nokia tweeters and find a new set that are similar size.
Good results and maintains original look

DLS R5a's would be my advice for the sub £200 group,

they will need an amp tho as the 10wrms or so your head unit is putting out just wont do any reasonble components justice
