Hey, I've just bought myself an '89 316i and was wondering if 17"s would fit on it? I'm only asking because I've seen a set of BBS's that are going cheap. Would you guys recommend that 16"s would be a better fit and ride?

Yes, having just come from having some 17's i would agree and say 16's are a better ride. if your running a standard brake setup you can stop too! which is always a bonus!

17" wheels will fit assuming the car is not lowered a silly amount and also depending on how wide they are.

IMO 16" give a better ride

But what rims have you tried ?

Good quality, light weight 17" rims will not make the ride/handling crap. If you fit a set of heavy old Burger Kings or something similar, I don't doubt it will ride/handle crap.

My 17" BBS RC's are lighter than a 15" cross spoke, and I can assure you that the handling & ride is far from crap.

Ian.
