Kicker & Vibe are both shit, they are designed for the barry boys/boy racers, kickers are loud with no sound quality and vibe are even louder but have even less sound quality.
If your after a nice quality system go for brands like Alpine, Pioneer, Rockford, Boston, JL Audio etc etc.
Also if your only looking for a mild system get a nice Alpine 5 channel amp, if you want a nice well rounded system get a mono block amp to run just your sub and another normal amp for your speakers, as far as amps go Alpine win hands down.

Mono blocks are just for pushing out hard B line and you get a much crisper bass note, i'm a bit of an Alpine Fan Boy, you carnt go wrong with a full Alpine set up

This is a good site to use for planning what to buy but i suggest when you see something you like you get it from elsewhere as there prices are quite high

Pac u and me both mate .. a friend of mine got me in to ALPINE and i HATE/LOVE him for it
cause alpine is costly..how ever they hardly went wrong but i had the type s subs and i must say the bass was real crap ..i heard a vibe 10inch sub no lie sounds wicked lol i think kicker sub WILL do the heavy bass job .. heap mate your right a grand should cover it but im hoping my budget will stay £600 a grand is TO TO TO MUCH i had kenwood when i was young and they were good lol but alpine has to be the head unit .. no other head unit will do for me

in my experience Alpine are shite when it comes to bass other than that Alpine are very nice although when i had my mk4 golf i used the infinity daddies which where £120 for te tweeters and made from titanium, they where the best things i have ever had, they can't pop and i will NEVER buy anything else.
The Kickers i have are unreal but at £340 each they aint cheap
why not try and buy second hand

The only reason some people think alpine is shit when it come to subs is because Alpine go for quality not quanity and some muppets out there would rather make loads of noise than have less volume but at a better quality, or people power an Alpine sub with a shit amp.
Having said that alpines budget stuff is kinda shit but but as long as you get the good stuff you wont be disapointed

Hmm i agree with heap alpine subs are crap so thats out of the question cause i had 2 12 inch type s and they were rubbish so alpine subs is out the box for sure .. alpine 9886r head unit ill get 2maro .. Jl audio i heard they quite expensive ? what are they all about i never actually heard one ..and ill buy brand new stuff no need for second hand i wont budge for another £30 or 40 quid so new stuff all the way for me im thinking Kicker 15inch Sub ? Alpine Amp ? Alpine type r speakers all around inc components and alpine head unit all together £ 579 quid what you lot think ?

As far as Alpine goes its you gotta get the Type R's at least anything else is pants.
Really dont get kicker i have had 2 of the old kicker squares which were shit and there supposed to be the best ones!
JL are well worth the money, the subs aint that expensive but JL subs require a special sub box (unless you want to make your own) which makes JL bass seem expensive

Kicker has quite a funny story behind how it got started, back in the day a red neck in the good ol US of A put an old house speaker under the seat of his pickup up truck and wired it up to his head unit, he said "Boy it feels like someones kicking you in the ass" hense the name kicker he then started his own business

Getting sound from a cabby is really hard unless you can release the air if you know what i mean.
I have done this by porting the sub box through to the cabin through the rear seatbelt holders. Cut a small hole in the rear panel and sounds awesome now

If you remove the rear seat, this is the panel that i cut a small hole in. Got my mate to make a tube/port and connected that to the sub box and then fitted it through the holegrantfk10 wrote:Just managed to get my sub box working, how'd you port it through the rear seatbelt holders??ImysE30 wrote: I have done this by porting the sub box through to the cabin through the rear seatbelt holders.
