Hi all,
I have just replaced my orange side repeaters with clear units and orange bulbs. I prefer the way they look but I was dissapointed when I turned on my hazards and discovered they wern't half as bright as when I had the orange ones on. Is this usually the case when they are changed?
I know it is nothing major but is there any way I can increase the brightness? Changing the bulbs perhaps?
Thanks.

I've just put some on mine too and the plastic bit where the bulb goes in is longer than on all the amber ones i've got so the bulb effectively sits further back into the wing/away from the lense than it did with the amber ones so there is less light output. Not too bothered by it though they look a hell of a lt better than the amber ones light or no light!

Agree with you aj_mckay mate. The side repeater lamp (bulb holder section) is longer on the aftermarket lamps but you can cut them back to get the bulb closer to the lens and retain the factory rubber boot that covers the wire to the bulb.
Does that make sense? It's been a long day
I would recommend doing this as the bulb needs to be closer to the lens to get an adequate light output. It could potentially be an MOT failure if the side repeater doesn't flash strongly enough.
