OK, so I'm thinking about getting my steering wheel re-covered.
The car is a daily driver, so it's got to be hard-wearing - that means that Alcantara is a non-starter, which is a shame as it would have been my preference.
Anyone suggest something that is a little bit different, or should I just stick with black leather?
TIA
Stuart.

Stick to leather mate, why stick to black though ?. Does Toby do wheels as well as gaitors and stuff now ?

I'd be interested to hear the quotes you get Stu, I may get my RD wheel retrimmed if the cost isn't silly.

There is a place near Maidenhead that quoted me around £110 to have a knackered tech 1 wheel recovered in suede. I can't remember their name though.

Suede would be nice but I don't know how well it wears.

OK - so in the short-term (while I'm trying to decide what to do) is there anything I can use to restore the leather to black where it's worn off and going brown?

I'm not into recovering steering wheels.

Stu, try just black shoe polish first (buff it off well) as a temporary measure - it worked well on my Tech 1 wheel or 'Hide Food'.

A replacement or recovering is the way forward. Black leather looks best with a black dash IMHO.

I had mine done on a previous car by a saddler!!
Only charged me about AUS$65 (30 quid) and it looked awesome (no photo sorry).
He told me as long as the padding is in good knick it is a simple hours work.

You mean the dye is coming off your steering wheel or your black leather interior?

O/T how's the M50 going - still good?
