Why do you want a 4" bass woofer?

Uni is killing the project.

fair play. Sound systems compliment jap crap. Technological toys, thats all they are.

4"?! 5.25 is a challenge, but I'll be shocked when I hear any worthwhile bass out of a 4" speaker. Will probably happen though!

there are many , mostly used in studio's monitors or sum desent book shelf speakers. if you can still find a set of LONGMILL mid-bass speakers they are pretty good. if you make an box for the speakers then they will give sum bass. why not try tv spares shop as sum rear projection tvs have 4" bassy speakers which run in free air and sound fairly good.

As above sati, iv already made a prototype for my design with a 15w rms bass cone, it works down to around 40hz at -6db, but the stereo and speakers its being designed for is 70w rms/channel, so i need something alot more beefy
il have to have a look around some of the second hand hifi shops here, iirc some older wharfedale speakers were pretty pokey lol

JBL's??? Try looking around for non car audio stuff!!
Can you box them in, or do they have a specific enclosure to go in??
The JBL control 1's i use have 4" bass cones i think (may even be 3.5" in the older models?) - they are small and ported and can kick out quite a lot of bass when set up well!! They play quite deep too!!!!
Everyone comments how good they are and thinks there is a little sub somewhere!!
Only about £50 a pair too, so you could buy them and cannibalise them!!!
B&W use cones made by Tang Band i believe!!!
Just looked on their site and they appear to do a 3" square sub - and even a 2" sub!!!!!!!!!! No idea how good that is, but i want some!!!!!
Clicky for TB
I have some of their 5" subs knocking about, but i fancy trying some of those 2" ones!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, could I use something like a 4" sub in the speaker pods on my touring? I'm going for components in the front.. a sub or two in the back would really finish it off.
Any good??
4.5" woofers

Well, iv given up in my search for power in a 4"cone, gonna make my own
Got some pioneer 6" bass pump cones lying around and they have plastic baskets, also a pair of decent ish 4" cones with plastic baskets too (can you tell where this is going???) cut cone/basket/magnet assemblies out of each speaker and plastic weld the two halves of each together with modded cone suspension, anyone seen a 100w/RMS 4" sub before??? should be fun

Dont even get that idea in your head
il only be making one, possibly two. Chances of finding the bits to do more are slim to non existant
might just make one and make it dual coil, 200w/rms 4"er
