M-tech II on cab

i know there have been alot of posts about fitting M-tech II kits to pre-face lift e30's etc, as as far as i can tell there are two problems
1. rear bumper mounts in different places
2. rear arches are higher, thus modification is required.

but i read over at: r3vlimited.com that the rear arches on pre-face lift cab's were lower and the same as the post facelift e30's.

exact quote:
"All cabrios have the lower rear fender arches like the post-88 cars."

is this true?, and would this mean fitting an m-tech II kit to a preface lift cab would only require altering the mounts for the rear, and not the arches?
