Refurbishment of alloys wheels....

Has anyone been brave enough to tackle the job themselves?

I was thinking of getting my wheels refurbed but it cat be that hard can it?

So i thought maybe i can save the extra cost and put it towards a engine conversion and tackle the job myself.

Has anyone done their wheels them self?

Any pics advice etc would be helpful as im thinking of doing them this weekend

Here's the bbs I refurbed.
First I used paint stripper to remove the paint from the lip of the wheel and used progressively higher grade wt and dry to smooth the metal:



Then some Autosol followed by Meguirs metal poilsh with a MF cloth to smooth the metal further:



Then cleaned the rest of the wheel thoroughly with a very fine scourer pad and painted them nogaro silver with rattlecans from BMW:



Then lacquer, supplied BMW along with the paint:



Hope that's of some use to ya

refurbed all of these myself i've found that if you take your time and make sure you spend a lot of time on the prep work they should turn out alright

Im refurbing a set of BBS's atm.
All i can say is take your time with the prep work (sanding/ primming) and u'll be happy with the end results

Do you guys know what filler to use for deeper scratches i went to a alloy refurb place near me and watched them doing a alloy and they just used fiberglass filler same as the one they use for car bodies

Is that ok to use? i suppose it is as a professional refurb place are using it but they could just be cutting corners.

i tryed refurbing my set but wasnt happy with finish, so my xmas pressy is getting them refurbed so there new again, will have to buy new center caps too thats going to set me back £100 will look the dogs when done tho
