Capping off the arial

I my arial motor on my cabby seems to be shot as one day it just never went down. I would love to just get it down and leave it there as I am not a fan of the extra tall arial look anyway. What options would I have to still get radio reception anyway?

I would really hate that fin on my cabbie. Is there anything I don't know of that could keep my fm clear?

you can get in car ones , that good around the windscreen or in the boot , got 1 for sale £10 posted ( in boot version) looks like this
