Would 12 gauge wire be ok for 600w amp

will a 12 gauge power lead be ok for the above amp, or is it a bit thin

what would the benefits be for having a thicker cable

I'd go for 8 guage
what would the benefits be for having a thicker cable
Less chance of it melting and catching fire when the amp is running at full power.

thanks i have some 4 guage aswell, just thought if it makes no significant difference the 12 guage will be easier to fit :D
