i keep seeing e30 with the midded lights gone and they as the grill there instead. how easy is this to do or can you buy them.

i am sure they were sold as a kit in germany somewhere - the problem is you need to change to the sealed beam type headlights (same as on the yank models and my old sport) as they have both dipped beam which are SH111TE and highbeam filaments (as seen on the top car) the lower cab still has the ellipsoids and thus he has no high beam.... MOT failure in uk??

as for locating the things... try emailing the info link at glow-special.de and asking them as i assume the first pic is their demo car (website only seems to show wheels)

i remember in the old days folk used mk2 golf lights and grills and modded them to fit the e30. or perhaps it was mk1 lights and grills. my memorys a bit fuzzy

i dont think you HAVE to have main beam lights, i guess its just nice to have.
