I'm finally getting the bodywork sorted out and want to give my delphin grey E30 a subtle cosmetic makeover. It's an early post facelift (came off the production line Jan '88 ) and has grey plastic bumpers with the black inserts. It also came with a MTech1 spoiler, which I love and want to leave untouched.

The front bumper has taken a knock and I've just bought a replacement which will need spraying. There's an iS splitter to replace the standard splitter and this will be sprayed delphin. The kidney grill is satin black and I plan to smoke all of the lights apart from the rear clusters which are red tinted. The BBS wheels need to be refurbed and I'm almost decided to have nogaro centres with polished rims.

I'm toying with either body colouring the bumpers including the black inserts and the door handles as well. Or, spraying the bumpers but leaving the inserts black as well as the door handles. The second option is safe I know and will look smart, but will the first look overdone or am I being a bit to staid? Any thoughts anyone?

That's more or less what's been planned Tony as you know. It's just that I was parked next to an MTech2 in Delphin the other day and I couldn't help admiring the all-one-colour look - even though I'm no fan of the kit. It's sort of put me off course if you get my drift :?

It goes in from Wednesday to Friday for the front wing to be knocked back into shape. I'm sticking with the original plan, so while it's there the bumpers and iS splitter will be coloured, but the bumper inserts will stay black. A couple of small rust spots on the sills are to be dealt with in Oct/Nov when the skirts will be added, door handles coloured, 'dimple dings' and a couple of deep scratches sorted at the same time. Then it be as close to a 'minter' as it's possible to get. It's a bit expensive, but somehow I'm enjoying the prospect.
