you will need an amp prehaps more if you plan on putting 4 in
basically your head unit will need a pre out to connect the amp to them you take a positive to amp, and earth it and you also need to send a signal from the HU to amp using blue cble on back of headunit and wire that up to rem on amp then use a rca cable from the pre outs in your HU to the amp then you connect the subs to the amp with speaker wire

HAHAHA!!! And petrol for when you want to drive your car...
I would have them facing 45 degrees (or whatever will get it symetrical) from each other with one center slot!!!.. So you get pressured movement!
Because if you want low notes.. the box to have them all moving would have to be HUUUUUGE!!!!!

To get a suitable sized enclosure for that sized cones, your gonna need to remove the rear panels and f/glass an enclosure i think dude
You've gotta to be looking for at LEAST 7.5 cu ft of an enclosure.
Have a look at the post by riklusby in this thread.
It'll give you a small idea of the work involved

Don't mean any offence, but why? My brother builds speakers in his spare time, it seems like the size of the speaker has no relation to the frequencies it can produce, it's all about how the sound travels. Might be worth investing in a few smaller good quality drivers and have a good speaker enclosure built.
Not in E30s any more

Is you car a touring?
If so: I should be able to make a design for you, just let me know the boot size and total area you can afford to lose, amplifier sizes and subwoofer specs.
If not: It's a struggle to make a nice install with two 15's in a saloon forget about 18's. The depth of the boot is only 16" max and given that subs have big magnets on the back it means you will be struggling even if you make a box on a slope. I've done two 15's before and feel that one in a ported box would sound better.
The only way I can think of to get for 18's in a saloon (unless you want to remove the rear seats) is to have them isobaric and facing upwards. Best thing to do would be to sell them and buy something else, three 10's or four 12's would sound good

A 10" speaker can sound like a 15" but it would take atleast three 10's of the same spec to make the same db, and it's power handling will be reduced. Smaller speakers are more efficient at higher frequences than bigger speakers. A 10" can play 15hz but its power handling would be down from lets say 150wrms to 10wrms, where an 18 could play possibly quite near it's full rated power at 15hz

well its the 4 ohm version of this i will be using: http://www.bluearan.co.uk/index.php?id=PDIPDN18SB25-8 the rest of the spec is identical to this one. And they will be going in the boot of the touring
i was also thinking isobaric enclosure as well, but the bandpass variation for monster low response

Dude they are woofers not subwoofers. They don't do the really low stuff, sorry but I can't see them sounding good.

it even states 'subwoofer' on theyre site lol, with a response down to a true 40hz@ -3db/oct and with a sensitivity of 98 db/1w/1m (each) then they will go alot lower than 40hz at the same output as most normall car subs of equal power, and with good porting, these should easily be capable of lots of uber bass lol

When your designing the enclosures, dont forget that youll need access for changing bulbs in rear clusters and access for suspension mounts etc, i found this challenging to overcome as i did the install in my touring a couple of years ago

I agree with chu346 they will only give you a tight punchy sound...!!!!
You should combine all that money and get 1 decent sub!
But hey go for it!

Well iv been thinking about it and have decided im gonna go with 3 of those subs in a horseshoe shaped enclosure, with separate chambers for each sub. One mounted each side of the boot and one at the front of the boot facing the rear of the car. Il cut the existing lifting floor in the area between the subs to allow access to the spare wheel
now all i gotta do is get all my measurements sorted lol

After you've got them installed, you'll soon find out how easy they shattersecondtimelucky wrote:lol so you think this might just work then??? how strong is the rear windscreen on a touring

Its also advisable to remove the rear number plate and all the plastic behind from the tailgate and use dynamat on there as well as i found it rattles quite a bit when the bass starts and i only had one sub !
