Speaker Sizes in E30's

Hi,

To my understanding the front speakers in an E30 are about 4 inchs?

How big are the speakers in the rear say for a cab? Again 4 inchs or bigger/smaller?

nope rears are smaller, let me confirm what size they are (4 inch or 12cm sounds about right)

I just pulled put my rear speakers in my motersport cabby and they say 13cm on the back of them. Which puts them close to 5.25?

Mods - how about a sticky in the ICE section with all the standard E30 speaker sizes listed (by someone who knows!!!)??

Gets asked all the time - and i can never remember and always have to spend time searching!!!!!!!!!!

Ur confused lol what about me I've just spent 220quid on some diamond speakers for the rear in 5.25 size. If they dont fit I'll be gutted.

well for the saloon their definatley 5.25 front and rear,

tourings are same at the front and if the optional rear speaker pods are fitted the rears are 4inch. not sure about tourings without speaker pods as ive never seen one.

I'd bet my mums life on that info but have no idea for the cabs.

Optional tweeters in the mirror pods are 1.5inch Nokia crap if anyone cares and can be melted or ripped out with brute force in my experience.

I think the rears in a CAB are 4 inches seeing as Mr Lee has a CAB himself and he should know...I hope anyway as I've ordered some to go in the rear!

The rear speakers I 'think' are an inch and a half different in size to the front, though don't quote me on it, I believe they are 3.5" Speakers.

Your having a laugh, you need a new tape measure mate.

Come on guys if you need to know your speaker size, can you not just go to the car and measure yourselves? It's not hard is it?

Anyway 5.25" allround I say (not sure about tourings). The biggest problems with the factory locations is the depth, most aftermarket speakers are too deep, but this can be overcome quite easily. I've got 6.5's in the front and 6x9's in the rear (fitted by previous owner) of my 2 door, so bigger speakers can be made to work.

I'm working nights this week - should have plenty of time on my hands!!!
I'll do some research and see if I can come up with some definitive answers!!!

What? confirmed definitive list of speaker sizes...... all cars except tourings use 5.25" front and rear, tourings 5.25 front and 4" rears. Thats really worth making a sticky about

Should make a FAQ's instead and make it something worth reading.


BTW i'm not sure on the rear touring speaker sizes but you get my drift

Ha ha, didn't really think about there only being a couple of sizes - aren't they different rears in cabs too??

Only suggested it as it seems to get asked quite often - and i can never remember and always have to search!!!

As pointed out in your earlier post, possible mounting depths would be really usefull to know too, for all the different applications!!

5.25 rears and fronts can take 2.3inchs depth in a cabby. just done mine.
