Hi,
I have recently installed an Alpine CDA 9851R head unit. Now I want to remove it to fit the Ipod adapter.
When installing .. I fitted the sleeve in the dash and slid the unit into place ... needed a bit of persuasion for the last centimetre but it clicked into place.
It does not seem to want to come out .. I am using the supplied removal keys which are about as much use as a chocolate tea pot. They do not "engage" to release the locking tabs .. no resistance at all. I have tried pushing the unit out from behind with the keys in place but nothing.
The keys, BTW, are completely flat.
Am I missing something or does anyone have any good suggestions ?
I have seen these on Ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/UNIVERSAL-ALPINE- ... 638Q2em122'
Would they be better as they are not flat ... they have a lump on the end.
Thanks,
G

G alpines are one of the trickier HU's to remove there are normally 2 little hook rollers on the front edge of the radio under the black surround
on the pic its either side in the middle

U have to hook them up and then use the removal keys to pull the radio out
the keys should lock into a section like this

Hope this helps
