Does anyone know if it is possible to buy a high power output cd/tuner head unit and if so which is the most powerful for the money.
I will go the proper way with amps later but need a quick fix for now.
Not to concerned about flashing lights and stuff you don't need just something as powerful as you can get without amps.
Thanks Paul

There are plenty of headunits that claim high power figures - however almost any standalone amp will be better than pretty much any headunit. It'd be a bit of a waste (IMO) to buy a headunit solely on rated power... why not get a cheap eBay amp that you can upgrade when you want to?

Thanks mate
as I said I am going down the amp route later ( I have a component system with two amps etc )but haven't got time to install it all properly at the moment. Just want something off the shelf as going on a long drive soon to Belgium.
Thanks Paul

Just get something decent & use whatever it's got in the way of onboard ampage - it'll do the job just as well as something that claims 4x600W or whatever & sound a lot better in the long run... :)

Thanks for the help, been trying to see if I can get my component set installed on the quick. Do the job properly the first time and don't mess about with inferior stuff.
I think you were right in your first post , just wanted to hear that I could go to Halfords spend £150 and it would sound the same.
Thanks for the reality check.
Cheers Paul

Becker / Nackeredmidget / maybe Blaupunkt, Alpine etc... go for sound quality & something that looks right in the E30 dash, rather than something that tries to impress nova drivers with power figures! :thumb:

Anything decent will be listenable with even the factory speakers - although fitting a set of 5.25s & tweeters shouldn't take more than 1/2 an hour - whatya got & why can't you do it yourself? :)

Deffo go for quality over power ratings - less distortion = more volume!!!!!!!

Dunno what your budget is but nakamichi are top notch and on the one i've got you can completely remove the amp section when you fit external amps!!! Have a look on ebay!!
Always look good in a BM dash too - not flashy!!
