if you look a little closer at my pic, its not just a 2door its a rugtop. i lower my back half or my roof and i take off the front half wich is a boared that goes into my boot wich has rails for it. have you never seen one before?siddiqi1 wrote:im confused; what do you mean "the one with pillars?"

no no,its a two door like the convertable's you guys have there exept that there is a bar that goes over the top of the car, kinda like the vdub golf mk1 cabrio. in sa we never got pillarless convertables in the e30 shape ony the e36 and up.

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
i get it now!!! thanks for that!
so back to the orignal problem of where to put the amp:, still should be plenty of room in the boot no even if the roof is folded down in there. Maybe not directly underneath; but how about in the spare wheel well?

if its powering front speakers, how about under a seat or behind center consol, just be sure to allow lenty of airflow to it.

Basically your car started life as a 2 door saloon but a factory fitted option from BMW is to convert it to a cabrio by cutting the roof off. The only problem is there is not much stability with no roof thats why you have the 'C' pillars and the roof bars. So hence the name is 'Baur Cabriolet'.phil-r wrote:well i guess you learn something everyday! thanks for that. It's a Baur!
you can screw the amp to the side of the bass bos with short screws as well.

Before BMW did their own convertible, they were converted - with BMW's blessing - by TCBaur. They also did E21's as well.Sanchez wrote:Basically your car started life as a 2 door saloon but a factory fitted option from BMW is to convert it to a cabrio by cutting the roof off. Once BMW started the factory jobbies, there were not as many Baur's needed, that's why most of the Baur's you see on E30's are early cars.
