Cheers Ed, not so concerned about polishing the alu, just cleaning it realy, inside and out.
Got a load of diesel and gonna leave the inlet in a bath of this for a few days to hopefully shift all the gunk and crud ready for paint prep.

Got my rocker sprayed in the crinkle paint tonight, looks great just waiting for it to dry.
Had a go with the heat gun on it and left it on the rad for now, hopefully this will speed up the drying process

Can anyone recommend a good degreaser to get the diesel off of the inlet ready for paint. Is cellulose thinners best?

im not sure where your going to use it but panel wipe is more abrasive than thinners it'll take the shine out of paint work so remember that. it is what we use to get grease of a car the final time before painting it so its pretty good gear.

Its for the inlet manifold (currently in bare ally) so no worries on damaging the paint, just want to make sure i get rid of any exess grease or diesel (which its soaking in) before i paint it. I used soapy water on the cam cover after nitromores/rub down and that was fine but i have a feeling somthing stronger like panel wipe will be spot on for this job.

Ive got the crinkle paint on the inlet manifold and rocker, just waiting for the paint to fully harden then i can rub and polish down the logo's and stripes.
Has anybody then gone onto clear coat lacquer these bits, is it needed?
Thanks again

If anybody wants any polishing done i have set up a BIG workshop in bristol now for working on my bavarian toys and have a couple of polishing spindles running again, so alloy bits no prob. still have some rockers, tbs, stat covers, etc still in stock, once i figure/ remember out how to post pics i will. terry Even though it says im a newbie when the zone changed i lost my posts plus ive been missing in action for ages, my B10 is the main reason, and my replica boyracer version and my 750 hardtail chop
