It came from the E36 I raped for the M52 lump, so was prob dealer fit in that, circa 1995
Yep! Click the link in my post earlier. Thats what I'm using, iPod in the glove box and controled on the head unit.

I can see it's a P series by the square blue plug on the lead.

just dug this out of a cupboard, can't find any info on what year it is from, but pretty sure it came out of one of my dads alfa 33s, the latest of which was an 89 f-reg, so it's almost certainly late 80s / very early 90s

pretty basic but would look ok in an e30 dash i think

just bought this for one whole english pound, not sure of the vintage, there's very little information on the net about 80s / 90s car stereos! i'd guess early to mid 90s, so probably a bit late to be properly e30 era.

it's got a round din input rather than ai-net, but hoping some sort of adapter can be used to play an ipod through it, it has cd controlls so should be able to take an external source of some sort!

suprisingly it sounds fantastic on radio (which is what i listen to 99.9% of the time in the car) the tuner is every bit as powerfull as the 2004 alpine cda-9830r it has replaced, infact it picked up some stations the newer unit missed!

a lovely rich, warm and detailed sound with no need for equalisers, time alignment etc. shame it's not just a little more powerfull, although really its fine for every day use.

i think i'm going to have to open up the faceplate and see if i can change the illumination to amber.
cheers,

harry

If its the one i'm thinking off its not a very retro unit, its quite modern compared to most the stuff in this thread.

Think its a mid to late 90's unit one of the last tape decks alpine sold before everything went to CD's

Good enough unit though and IIRC it lights up amber as well

Pac
I've got a CDM7818R of 1995 vintage (£499 new list price!) to fit into my E30 - the cage is well used and really needs replacing.
Any idea where I'm likely to pick one up?

I've just dug this out of the garage, I had it in the sport back in 1997 and it comes with a 12 stack cd changer.

Just thought I would put up a couple of shots of my stereo in my 325i convertible.

Image

The headunit is an Alpine CDM 7829E and it was fitted as original equipment in 1991 The car was originally exported new to Hong Kong and the unit was fitted out there. As part of the cars history I have the original receipt from the dealer in Chinese. At the same time the original owner had this fitted in the boot

The sound quality is excellent and the wood trim on the amp. is so retro. all in all for a sound system that is nearly 20 years old the performance is fabulous
