wheels which are cut open and have a band of steel elded in so you can make them any width you want.

although technically they are illegal, i'm not sure how you would spot that they were banded wheels unless you took them apart (if theyre dont properly) i assume the metal being put in is as strong as the standard wheel steel, fully welded and ground back flat for an invisible join.
nevermind..google is my friend. sounds dodge!

not really, if its done properly by someone who is a professional welder then its worth it, not by a head banger monkey who can barely solder 2 wires together

well the problem is when people started doing this in the 80's or something, the people didnt weld the wheels properly so they fell apart  but as i said above there isnt really a problem if they are done properly

I presume the only advantage is price? wide wheels cost silly money but a bloke in his shed can make steel ones cheaply?

cant find any pics of any... guess would be handy for track days, wouldnt use them on the road though.

www.wide-wheels.co.uk

PROPER banded steels are far from bodged, they're as strong as the originals, completely legal, as safe as any other wheel and look the mutts nuts.

Bodged 'I'll give it a go' hand welded ones are a f*cking deathtrap. Machine welded ones done by professionals aren't.

munky, thats the same company i found  awesome work on the cars :D

HairyScreech, i belive that when the wheels are made they are balanced by spinning them at high RPM to make sure they are safe, not buckled/straight and the important part that they dont fall to bits when they are being used on a car =]

Not very angry though.

What size you going for?

I've been pestering them for a price for 9x16 rear and 8x15 front but they are ignoring my emails, the swines.

f*cking hell! All of a sudden I'm a banded steel dealer!

I hope you know if I get you each a set, the doscount you get wont be the same as the discount I get. winkeye

Make a list of sizes required and I will see what I can do. (I wont be supplying my steels for them to use, which makes them cheaper if you do.

1: Munky - 16x9 rear/15x8 front (e30 fit, using their wheels)
