iPod head unit

I want one...

Just about to buy an 80gb iPod so i want to be able make use of it in my car. Can anyone reccommend an iPod head unit please. i dont wanna spend a fortune, but i will pay good money for good equipment

Id go for the Keny or the Alpine, u'd need to get the adapter but if u aint got the ipod yet u could get the adapter off flea bay later

just got an alpine jobbie for about £200, effin brillaint, great sound quality and you can control your pod from the unit.

unlike some it will search and scroll as fast as you can on the pod, just chuck it in the glove box and away you go.

make sure it has the 'full speed' ipod cable not one of the older 'external box' types.


i took my pod into halfrauds and connected it too a few and decided on the alpine, then got it online for £50 less

This thread has been handy - nice one peeps! still havent been able to fork out for a new headset since the break in last month! I mis my tunes! On the plus side half the noises ive noticed without it have been dealt with and the cars running better than ever!!

my one (other) piece of advice is steer clear of those fm transmitters, the one i tried sounded bloody terrible.

One of my mates always brought his itrip along for the journey, once it was tuned in and we had found the best place for it to sit - it worked fine - and the sound quality was good too!

Alpine have their new & flashy IDA-X001 Digital Media Receiver. There's no CD player built in (but you can add an autochanger if you want). I think it's the most comprehensive ipod solution on the market at the moment.

my mate has the same one in his VX220 and he reckons its the nuts for the price. Plus side is that all my other bits are alpine too!!

I decided to go with this company too, after one of my friends had a really bad experience with caraudiosecurity.com

Daz, not too bothered about the 1 pre-out coz im not massively into my sounds. Not bothered about subs and all that. I just like to have a nice quality sound without it being drowned out by the unbearable thud of loads of subs in the boot!! thats why i dont let neil put the radio on when i drive in his cabby!!
