My (cab) boot is currently using a new mini gas strut... same size as the original BMW one, but cheapy cheep cheep from the scrappies, & nearly new so much more life left than most second hand ones. There's 2 on each mini that's had a smash & you only need one... :)

Like the idea of fitting stuff to the boot lid btw, but aren't you worried about damaging it when the boot gets slammed?

thanks for the advice ziggy im going to keep my eye out for one, as for mounting things on the bootlid theyre not that heavy to be honest and its bolted in enough places not to cause any trouble.

i got my door pods back from the trimmers today ive got to say thanks to placey and HartgeH27 for sorting them out for me :D :D :D a pair of quality zoners.

anyway this is the only pic i have and it doesnt do any justice to the quality

Are you not worried about the amps frying themselves? The heatsinks can't work if they are mounted upside down and i'm sure it will void any warrentee you have on them.

cass1_5503,

Nice set up. But I also share the concern on the amps being upside down; heat might fry the circuits.

Anyway, what size of the speakers are on your door panels? You have installed pics? Thanks. :D

One way is to remove a bit of the indicate stalk
The other way is to fit the trim panel from a left hand drive car(M3)and reposition the clock(or OBC) closer to the steering column.
Personally I prefer the second option
Works well for me
Means I don't have any problems with my Alpine AV/sat nav head unit

i thnk the struts in a cab are different from those in a coupe/4door so a mini one may not fit, set up look real nice, i trust it sounds as good as it looks!!

good work there. you might like to consider this information:

http://www.e30zone.net/modules.php?name ... =gas+strut

half a days work perhaps but well worth it. a single pair of struts is fine for a standard boot lid but there's nothing stopping a longer bolt and two or more struts each side if a single pair is not up to the bob of holding it all up.

looks good, i like the screen in the bootlid, nice touch!

what would be cool, is the boot to open from a button inside, and to rise itself with the struts!
