jon_pure_british, do you by chance have a link to the Dodge Charger-style grille conversion (my favourite car!)

Looks to me like a widened old bread-van shape (Mk2?) Polo. Wouldn't bother myself.

I like it, I even started butchering a pair of e30 grilles a few months back in a quest to do this, but quickly got bored

Really not keen on that, Looks weird, looses a lot of the e30 character! Do quite like it when one light is taken out in order to get cool air- looks quite menacing!
As regards making up the grille, Dont think it would be too hard to make one up, either bodging 2 sets of e30 grilles together or finding something similar and combining the two....
Going to a scrappy at some point in the next few days to pick up some odds and sods for a mate so Ill see if I can pick some up and have a play with it....

I have a couple of grilles laying around, got them for this exact purpose, just not had time to work out how to do it yet. If anybody gets there before me, please share!

i totaly agree it looks like dropy and sad were with twin lights itlooks mean and angry!!i dunno they dont look right it just ruins a car thats already beautiful
or how about running both high beam lights as brake ducts and then main and dip beam in to orignal dip unitDo quite like it when one light is taken out in order to get cool air- looks quite menacing!
i do think that would look good??
but is one main beam legal??
could always put a blank grill right across so no lights at all !! just the stock looking grill right across and no kidney grill
il get on photo shop and play

I was thinking one side as induction and one side as a camera mount, with a set of big spots on the front.or how about running both high beam lights as brake ducts and then main and dip beam in to orignal dip unit

This is an old thread
but that touring looks fooking cool. I like the single light look, but I don't like it enough to bother doing one.
Not in E30s any more
