Hi all.
Advice/opinions wanted please....
I've managed to fit 6.5" woofers in the front kick panels. Now, do I leave them there and install my 4" mids and 1" tweeters in the door (no door build necessary) and 5" mids and 1" tweeters in the back
or
do I leave the 5" mids in the kick panels, and mount the 6.5's in the door with the tweeters (door build necessary) and put my 4" mids in the back with the tweeters. I have an underseat sub for the real bass, but I would value other peoples points of view. I am prepared to do door builds, but if I can get a better/equal sound, without the work, I'd like to....

your consideration at this point has to be on-axis sound. ideally you need all your drivers poiting towards the opposing seat headrest - thus each of the front seat passengers hears the sound as if they are in the centre of the speakers. this will require builds no matter where you put the drivers as the door cards and kick panel locations are all at 90 degrees to the floorpan.

to test for on-axis orientation knock up a stick perpendicular to a small square board and point the stick at the opposite headrest, the board will be at the driver angle required.

you'll soon see that to have your 6.5s on-axis in the kick panels you'll have to develop a 'flid foot' driving style. your options will then be obvious...

the difference that on-axis orientation makes to sound quality cannot be over-emphasied.
