I'm planning on 215/40/17 on 17x8.5, still a bit undecided though!

I have 16x8 at the mo with 16/40/225 and the tyres seem to fit ok. Will 215 fit ok or is it better to go for the wider ones? There are not many around at 17/40/225

If they're the 8x17Et20 rims then 215/40ZR17 is the correct size for your M3.

I was thinking about putting 205/40/17's on my new 17x7's
What do you guys think ? Should it be 215 or would the 205 stretch be better (Baring in mind the wife is driving the car, kurb'age !!!!)
Cheers M

The right size for 17 x 8 would be 225/ ratio (you will have to work out what your standard is an subtract the inches to keep the rolling radius within range)17 - 225/ratio/17
