Aloha guys,

A few years ago I saw a CF or fiberglass lid for the storage area where cloth top folds into. It was at some auction in UK.

Does anyone have a link or picture for it ?

for the visual effect, I've seen cabrios with material removed and lid color matched.

oem weights 13kg's / 26lbs, so it can save a little weight too.

my cabrio is Delphin Metallic so cf parts don't standout as much.

OK the good news is if you simply peel the vinyl covering off of the roof storage it SHOULD be body colour underneath, then you can just clean it up with some mild solvents to remove the glue then some polishing and you will havce a cleaner look.

as for CF/FG yes it will save a few kg of weight, but lets be honest if you are looking to save 5-10kg then easier to drain the tank, remove the window washer water, eat a few less pies etc etc...ie a lot of money for no real gain.

If you are so concerned with weight in your cabby, remove the roof altogether. That'll save you 13 kgs probably. I doubt it rains much in Hawaii (well it doesn't rain much on Dog the Bounty Hunter or Hawaii-5-0  ).

I been running without a ragtop for about 2 years now, that thing is about 40+lbs.
almost as heavy as the removable hardtops. :x :x

removed whole A/C as i never use it and the lead weight on trunk.
replaced that with 4 amps an 8speakers. lol.

the weight savings is just a side effect., specially from hood and trunk boots.
also went with oem MT1 kit instead of MT2 as there's like 30kgs / 60lbs + difference, M Technic 2 being heavier.

it rains plenty here, passing showers are fun. hence a ragtop is going back on.
