9 X 16 ON THE REAR, WILL THEY FIT??? (AGAIN!!!!!)

Hi Folks

Just bought a set of Azev A 7 x 16 front and 9 x 16 rear wheels from ebay. Tried to post a pic but unable to, numpty

I know should have checked this before I bought them, will the rears fit straight on without any archwork being done? I hope to lower the car at some point, nothing big, maybe 20-25mm

Now onto tyres I am running standard 15" BBS with 205/55r15 tyres with aspect ratio of 607mm, so I'm think of puting 205/50r16 on the front aspect ratio of 612mm, and 225/45r16 on the rear aspect ratio of 606mm.

Will this combination be acceptable, with or without arch mods?

LOL, i asked about this a while back but got no replies.

I had some 8.5 x 17's (with 225's) on the back of mine for a bit and they fitted fine. The arch lip was folded flat for more clearance tho.

Al.... It really depends what offset they are, mine were ET13 and you wouldn't want them to sit any further out, but there was plenty of clearance behind.

If they're ET20 or more i reckon they'll go with some lip work.

They are et20 at the front and et15 at the rear.

Thanks for info. The car is getting some welding done on the inner arches this weekend so I will ask the guy to roll the arches back while he's at it

It also depends on the height of the car. At standard you could get away with it. But lowered it down say 40+ then youve got problems.A lot of guys over on www.r3vlimited.com that have wide wheels (often Borbets ,Keskins etc) seem to roll/pull their arches.I would say that 7x16 on the front would be fine.But the rear would depend on offset.

But if your only looking to lower the car a fraction, then it might all work out fine. 9s on the rear would certainly look sweet, nice and wide Also you might want to consider wider tyres.225 are ok, but might look a bit strechted and not offer much sidewall on 9's.

your tyre profile sizes are correct. I believe they wil fit. Why don't you just try it? let the car down slowly on the jack and see?

9x16 on standard SPORT height (which is slightly lowered) no way hoesy (not for me anyway), sorry to burst the bubble, but i had rubbing issues bad, really annoyed me, being a 2.5 put your foot down (vroooomm eheh) and the back wheel dig in and they use to rub, little pot holes, jumps, and certainly no people in the back allowed, rubbing killed the tyre, rubs with the inner lip.

i got my rear arches rolled ( rolled arches on tech 2 look goood), pressed inner lip and slightly flair the arch out (you may/maynot have paint crack) and voila no rubbing nothing, excellent, luv it

my wheels are borbet A all round, front are fine, and im using FK spacers from Roy at CA 10mm, must be hub centric, or your wheel will shake at high speeds.

225 for the rear with 9x16 you will defo have to wide arch i have 215/40/16 all over, stretch euro syleeeeee.

I had 16x9 all round on my M-tec 2 cab and it went on fine without any arch work. The car was also dropped 45m. Saying that, i did go through tyres quiet a bit though as the rear was rubbing on the inner arch. That also meant i couldn't take anyone in the back of the car. Apart from that it was fine and looked wicked Euro stylie

I run 16x9's with 215/40/16's et15, front spacers are 10mm rears are 15mm, rubbed like whoa in the rear, btw I'm on eibachs so not too slammed, I rolled and pulled the rear fenders, still rubs slightly in the left rear, come spring time I will massage the fenders more, also going with 215/45/16's next.

Yeah, mine rubs the same, left rear, I might have to pull the fender just a tad.

sorry if its a hijack (but will be useful to you when you run 9x16 hehe), do you find that the tyres tramline/follow the road easily?

the steering wheel tends to move if it find a "path" on the road? is this normal for wider tyres/rims?

Thanks for the replies, some of you are mentioning spacers, I thought I would only need spacers if the offset is incorrect do the spacers stop the wheel rubbing on the inside, hence the need to roll the arches?

al you are correct in sayin that you need spacer if the ofset is incorrect and yes it stop the wheel rubbing on the inside of the arch, shock caliper etc.

from experience offset et20 and below do not work on the front of the e30, they rub with the caliper (car dosent even move), i have tried et20 7.5j and needed 5mm spacer, at moment i am running et15 9.5j and still need spacer 10mm hubcentric minium.

the only time you flare/roll arch is when your tyre stick out and contach the arch while over bumps,acceleration etc,

7.5j et20 (5mm spacer) i didint need to roll no arch, was running 205/45/16 front and 215/40/16 back with no spacer.

Eventually got my wheels fitted, 2 months after making this post, phew!!!!

I promise I will get some pictures up

I can now report on whether they fit or not...............THEY DONT!!!!

Well not that they don't fit, just that the rear tyres rub on the arches when going over uneven surfaces (which is quite alot) and I have had the arches rolled. But the rears are the least of my problem...The front wheels vibrate violently between 30-50mph. One of the posts did say this might happen. What do I need to sort it?

are they balanced?! tracking, they could be buckled? bigger wheels elablorate worn suspension also

Should have mentioned in my post that the wheels were balanced before they went on, DOH!!

Arranging to take the car next week to get the, tracking, toe in, camber etc looked at.
