Hi everyone,

recently decided I needed a cheap run around for work (cycling in this weather is no fun!) and being fed up with fiesta's and the like I bought this 320i of ebay for Ԛ£700. Not know anything about cars I took it on the guys word that it was sound and apart from a new tire, battery and fan coupling its not bad.

Main question is can you replace the fog light lens or do you have to buy the whole unit?

Also wondering if I've been robbed and if anyone knows what bodykit is on it - worth anything?

cheers, vernon

tell me about it, especially if you're a welsh bloke in the middle of essex!!

Thats why I asked really waying up the pros and cons about changing them for some less pimp'ish gear.

Any idea about the fogs?

I'm a complete novice when it comes to engines, the guy told me it was solid but it over heated when I was in the garage having the tire done - hence the changing of the fan coupling. I'm changing the oil and filter tomorrow and brakes seem ok, the steering seems a little nervous but I've read somewhere on here that could be because of the 17" alloys, then again I'm used to driving a fiesta diesel so it could be fine!!?? :?

I really need a garage to give it a going over - know anybody in the essex / herts / nrth london area that's any good?

I've been buying a lot of cosmetic stuff but I need the engine looked into as your right what you say about it being expensive if it all goes T's up

Hi there,

If you want a garage down South, try this site:

http://www.unixnerd.demon.co.uk/bmw.html and click on the good garage site in the left margin.

I use Autoform BMW in Tottenham. There's nothing these guys don't know about e30s - they build them from scratch here. They'll give it a once-over for you.

thanks for the help everyone, much appreciated. :D :D

I changed the v/coupling (turned out I could stop it with my hand!!!) and the car seems to be running fine. Whats the best way of checking the head as the coolant does look a bit dirty - oil and dipstick seem fine though - fingers crossed. Also the coolant light is stuck on but I think thats the SI batt's going as I can't reset the service lights and the rev counter has a mind of its own!!

Thanks again
