So the head gaskets on its way out on my rather sorry looking 325....
Been looking around and pound for punch the 2.2 Vtec out of a accord Type R have been rather cheap with the gearbox too......

Assuming electronics would be a fucking nightmare, actully getting it in and connected up would be how hard? Has it been done before?

I would run it on either omex or megasquirt.....

Im putting/put a K4M 1600 in a 96' Renault Twingo at the moment thats running omex standalone....but this is all a different ball game....

Either that or piss easy engine conversions what else can be done?

Best to buy a complete s2000 box & engine, I not sure does the 2.3 turn the wright way and does it mate to a s2000 box

Zetecs are FWD and they use them in Locosts and Caterhams and alike but thats I suppose is thanks to the gearbox being from a sierra usually.

Most uk kit cars run for duratec, rover k-sereis or opel ecotech engiens all FWD, all need custom bellhousings etc to run rwd.

The probelm is most honda engines run the opposite direction to normal engines.

Probably not a lot of torque for your application either.....
If you're into something a bit different, why not an integrale engine? Serious tuning potential there :)

s2000 has been done with the mk2 escorts before and they are rapid, personally i would be looking at a volvo t5, audi 5 pot turbo or saab engine, if you want something different and very potent

Easily tunable and very reliable

My list of E30 swap engine greats:

LS-1
S50
M50
S3x
Supra lumps
SR20DET's
Honda S2000 lumps
Cosworth YB
Duratecs
Zetecs
Saab Turbo

And probably a few others that'd have my donk swapping fetish going overdrive....

I think my next engine swap (if i ever do an e30 engine swap again) will be an LS-1.. For the noise if nothing else, or maybe a BMW V8.. Something V8 anyways, but this is OT  :o:

Honda S2000 is such a bad choice for an e30.

316carb power until 4k then 318is power until 7k then S52B32 power until redline.
getting a M50B25 with some bolt on´s and it will be ALOT nicer.

I agree to be fair, but us petrol heads are always suckers REVS!

To that end I'd love an S50B30 with loads of trick internals so I could get 8.5k RPM... Ho hum. Never gonna happen.

It's torque that makes the difference in a road car. Power is the area under the graph remember kids...

Not on my S50B32 though.. The con rod bolts are apparently made from chocolate, which is why I'm fitting the ARP rod bolts. Anyone know what the safe RPM limit for an S50B32 with uprated con rod bolts is? I eventually would like to fit some reground cams and get it re-mapped so it'd be useful to know.

1JZ... apparently dirt cheap these days and capable of 440bhp or more with similar torque on stock engines with only a uprated turbo and management
BMW and Opel, both RWD, both german, both good fun

Dunnel engines 2.0 duratec is over 300bhp also, I've seen these on the engine dyno and the noise is devine...

But you wouldn't want to stand next to one doing 9k!

£10k is the biggest invoice I've seen so far, I pack them up for export all over the world, it's amazing how many get flown to obscure places that have race series with engine restrictions.

150bhp per litre is might impressive no matter which way you look at it and honda do quite well at 101bhp per litre in the type R.

There's always FI tho, some of the honda boys get sily power figures from these V-tecs, check this out: Image

Ok, so just out of interest what sort of budget are you looking at to fit a S50 engine into the 325? Been looking around and engines are sitting at the sort of £1350 mark..... I know of one locally which is breaking and has only done 44k. But realisticly what are the majors?
I searched around and few people saying that you need a custom ex manifold....and what about the electrics, just run it on Megasquirt/Omex? Im carrying out an engine conv, on one of my sister cars atm, but its a simple 1600 swap!

You can get a brand new factory Toyota OEM shortblock 2JZ-GTE engine from the states for about £1500, its not a complete engine but is the much higher power "export" engine that was not available in japan and therefore not avaiable here if your using a lump from a gray import.
