Hi guys

Im contemplating doing up my 323i motor, so just a feeler for now as I may get a 325 motor as a replacement, however i was wondering if I were to do up the 323i engine what could I increase the engine capacity to if any in terms of a stroker setup?

Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Rivvage.. you will need to take the 323 block you have now bore/hone to 325i piston size then get some Late (post88) pistons and a rare as rocking horse shit TD crank. to build yourself a low comp 327 turbo compatible engine. you could poss build a 2.8 turbo but my knowledge on this stroker build is next to nothing.
best of luck.

Cheers Ben

So a post 88 block with pistons etc and the 323 head as per the 2.7 build sticky should do a 2.7 low comp enginge but I would need the TD crank.

This would avoid the machine shop route then.

Anyone know if the 328 build is easier?

Thanks

For 2.8L start with a 2.5 or 2.0 M20, the 2.0LM20 needs to be bored out to 84mm (same bore as 2.5) chuck into it the non vanos M52B28 crank M20B20 rods and M20B25 pistons and you have 2.8L as templ8e30 has done.

2.8L is easier than a proper 2.7L where you deck the block and use a vernier pulley, the basic 2.7 where you slap a 2.5 head on a ETA engine though couldn't be simpler or cheaper.

2.8's main expence will be the crank they can be had for as little as £100 but often sell for as much as £250.

The rest of the parts are pretty cheap if you allready have a 2.5L M20 that is, since the b20 rods are often peanuts.

I'm building a 2.9L with custom pistons, rods and a few other special parts, for the MLS gasket, pistons, rods and crank I have spent just a shade under £1000, thats before actually starting the build.
325i Tech 1 Touring, breaking.

2.5 high comp. M20, 3.64 LSD, Fully undersealed, Spax springs & Bilstein shocks, s/s exhaust, Alpina rep wheels and more.

2.8 is no good for FI as it has too much recipricating weight. the rods would possibly bend
