Nice progress there mate and engine bay looks nice and neat too.
What servo did you opt for?
Ive used Golf ones on my last 2 conversions but after driving Benjys M50 with Clio servo ill definately be using one of those on my next conversion.

one question

there is a big pipe coming up around the air filter (looks like a breather that connected to the old airbox) what have you done with that?

You mean with the sensor attached which bolts on?If so I just tucked it out the way under my M30 airbox.

As for the Clio servo.I drove Benjys car this week and the brakes are perfect.Stopping power and pedal feel/height is perfect.
As for the Golf one:pedal always feels `too hard`.Dont get me wrong they worked well enough just took some getting used to the feel.

In the fifth picture it looks like your got the aircon bracket still fitted.....that needs to come off1 :D TIP, chase the engine mount threads with a tap! make life easier when you dont crack the block.....It has been known :?
Clio servo's rock :thumb:
Cheers, ben
Gaffa tape is like "the force" - it has a light side, a dark side, and it holds the universe together.
There's nothing that shouts "Poor Workmanship" more than wrinkles in the Gaffer tap

no mate not that sensor, i think thats a valve to heat the throttle when its cold isnt it? was just going to remove this, the pipe i mean is about 30mm diameter.

yeah the aircon bracket is still on, didnt fancy removing the front pulley so left it on as its not doing any harm i dont think, as you can see aswell when fitting it i did forget to move one of the e36 mounts to the rear mount holes and did run a tap down the holes after id snapped a bolt in one and had to drill it out, doh!

I have moved the e30 servo over about 1 1/2", I will see if it clears when I put the engine in.

I have got 2 boxes I can use the m50 and the m20 box.
If I use the m50 box I have got to get a prop and change the diff
so I am going to use the m20 box with the m20 flywheel etc.
If I was to use the m50 box I would still use the m20 flywheel as its lighter.

Ed, won't the M20 gearshift be in the wrong place as the M20/M50's sit on different angles?

Yes the m20 box will sit at a different angle but the gear linkage can be bent to fit.

Ed,just why not just spacer(or get a thicker) engine mount rubber to rotate the engine and box?

Have to agree with Ed.

spacing one mount to mate correctly once the box is rotated the X degrees it needs leaves the prop dead centre in the car Andrew.

The M50 g/box support is NOT used here, the stock M20 one is employed

that engine was never going in there.

i was looing at the third picture when i saw the engine being hoisted in and was like  never gana get that in; i put my bottom dol...... 8O shit it went in!!!!!

looks like it was designed to be in there buddy; so well done and so suprisingly clean; doesnt look like its been bodged or anything!

excellent work buddy!

with regards to wiring; do you have to rip out all the E30 stuff and wire in the new engine loom completely?

It is surprising how they slot in at the right angle, mine came out today past the air con condenser, with the extra pulley on the front too! :D

Good work on the gear linkages, I suppose thats one way to add weight to the shifting action :D

Its bent down the support for the pump unit, should be able to straighten it out though, I put it on the forklift for 'safe keeping' and the level sender unit fell off as I was reversing
That bit did get run over :)

Sorry for the thread rape fella's

cheers for the comments guys, i found just lifting it by the front lifting hook so its hanging vertically and the just pushing the box to the rear on a trolley jack was the easiest way of getting it in.
