Hi guys,

I'm just starting to prepare an '88 touring for the M50 engine conversion - thanks to everyone who's posted info on the zone about this process, there really is an absolute wealth of knowledge here. One question though, to those that have done it - how much did you pay for your engines/'boxes? Did you buy an engine separately or buy a donor car and strip the engine out yourself?

There have been two M50B25s sell on fleabay recently for under £200, complete with gearbox, loom and ECU. This seems a ridiculously low price to me - should engines that are this cheap be avoided at all costs?!

Thanks

Mike

Nah, e34's are going silly cheap, you can pick up a decent running 525 albeit motless for £100 easily.

I think Pacerpete has got a complete engine and box for £2-300. It's a pearl as well, I knew the 525i Touring it came from.

Best bet if you have the space, buy one without MOT, strip what you want then weigh it in to get cash back

I paid £200 for an E34 M50, an early non-vanos one, supposed to have only about 90K on it but I don't believe that for a minute. Came with ECU, loom, 318is box bolted to it with M20 flywheel, also came with 328 adapted manifold and clio servo. Pretty much ready to drop in, which will happen, eventually............................................................. :P
