jaffro just called me asking if the auto pror in thinner than a manual prop???

he has a convertible which he is doing a m30 conv on and he is cutting his prop down to shorten it (i dont think im the best person to ask)

he wants to keep the centre bearing from the e34 as the e30 one is dead but does is the auto prop any different???

he says the prop from the e34 can slide over the e30 auto prop its that narrow!

any advice???

he is not on line thats why im asking for him

Guys I'm about to butcher an e34 prop and e30 prop for my m30 conversion. The centre bearing from both are the same part number. The front half of the props are both the same diameter.
So why not cut the front flange off the e34 and get it welded on to the e30 one at the right length?
Yes the rear section is thinner than the e34 but there are plenty of high powered 2.7/ 2.8 and turbo creations running around with no poblems using the same prop.

Just a thought.

Better find a manual then mate, that suprises me the auto one being thinner front section but fatter rear. You'll have to check if the centre bearing off the e34 fits the cab. My car is pre facelift so it won't cos the distance between the two mounting holes is different. Cabs shells are odd ( mostly prefacelift) so you need to measure that

I'll be sticking a new centre bearing on prior to it going away to get balanced. Luckily for me I can get it cut and welded at work, just can't get it balanced but at least I've managed to keep the cost down a little.
Why not put up a post in the wanted section for the front half of a manual prop. I got mine from Spadge ( the E34 one ) for twenty quid or something.

Should be okay, its a different part number because the 325 one is shorter due to it having a bigger gearbox than the 320. Lenght isn't too important as its getting cut down anyway. Its all about the girth winkeye
