Ok, tried a search couldn't find what i was looking for so started a new thread. I am hoping to carry out an m30 transplant on my touring in the coming months and have been told that an e32 may not be a good donor car. I got it for an ok price with full leather etc which im going to jog on to try and make it a bit cheaper. Any specific problems with using the e32 as a donor, im lead to beleive it will be harder and more of a PITA then using an e34 as a donor. Any advise appreciated. Cheers guys

My engine's out of an E32... only issue I'm aware of is that you're not gonna find a manual, & the exhaust mani can be a bit of a pain (the E34 one can too, but seems slightly easier to me).

Sump is the same. I'm guessing it's an auto being an E32?

Ziggy, so your telling me there is no difference in the one out of the e34? Its a manual. Are e32 manuals rarer then the e34?

No difference in the engine that I'm aware of - plenty of people have used them including me. Can't comment on the E32 gearbox (mine's E28) but I expect it's the same as the E34, & will work.

Yep mines also a e32 lump but out of an auto. You will be at an advantage though with less wiring to worry about and no throttle switch bonnet clearance issues.

good luck

The difference in gear linkage (is there one?) is academic, as it needs swapping for a 325i one anyway. E32 lumps are generally preferable as they are from auto's and haven't been nailed as much, but as yours is a very rare manual, this isn't going to be the case!

Stupid question probably but i guess i 320i one will not suffice? I have one of them.

You could just shortern the alloy linkage and selector rod to suit, but in standard for the 320i linkage/selector will be too long, as the 320i gearbox is shorter than the 325i gearbox.
