ford cosworth is the best imo but you will need deep pockets.

Got to agree, a 4 pot up front is the way to go.fuzzy wrote:ford cosworth is the best imo but you will need deep pockets.
So that leaves an M10 or S14.
You can extract good power from both, either N/A or F/I.

yeah iv seen guys get 400+hp from fully blown m10s
although its only an 8 valve
can you get 16 valve heads for m10s?
how much do you reckon upgrading an m10 until its beter than an s14 will be? dont fancy looking for an m3 to use it as a donor to be honest
thanks

An M10 will never be better than an S14, due to it having 8valves.
The blocks are pretty much the same.
Depends how much you want to spend, sky's the limit with an M10.

1600cc M10 with 3,8bar boost => 996hp
Anyways, regarding the swap, it all depends on your budget. S50 is easiest and possibly the cheapest way to get 300hp reliably with very small fuel consumption. But there're tons of choices, just pick the one which suits your budget, skills and needs best.

Sorry to thread hijack, but is a reliable and tractable 250 possible using something from the M50/52 range possible on a budget.
By budget, I mean once you've bought the actual engine ie minimal mods to get into the mid 200's BHP wise.
