[/b]looking to buy an e30 and need advice on which e30 would give me the most room for modifications... planning to make it a hardcore project so i need to know which would best fit, 316i, 318i...etc. any and all advice would be helpful

well, yes... i plan on modifying the engine as a first priority... then the suspension and anything else i can do to better the cars performance

lots of people will have different opinions but personally if i was sticking with the original engine id start with the biggest available as standard then turbo it for the best power gains. 325 for me.although id rethink your priority list and uprate your brakes and suspension first so it can handle the extra power safely.

Best plan is to buy a 316i or 318i touring (all tourings come with all the best suspension and brake bits), and then fit a completely different engine. Something from the M5x or S5x series.
