Ok, well I've gotten myself an 84 323i that i can pillage for parts, and have already removed the head and intake. I've also got receipts saying that the whole engine was rebuilt less than 2k ago.
Now comes the part i'm worried about, tearing apart my eta and bolting up the 323i head. Can those of you that have done this swap fill me in anything that will make sure it goes smoothly?
I've ordered new torx head bolts and gaskets, is there anything else i will need?
Any help is greatly appreciated,

Are you using the eta short motor?Have a look at the top of the bores.There should be no wear ridge.If your 323 had a rebore,use that as a comparision.Take off one main bearing cap,you are looking for wear again.Score marks are bad.The bearing surface must be smooth.When you put it all together,absolutely spotlessley clean with fresh oil between all moving parts.A new oil pump is good,as is a new water pump.A new cambelt is a must.M20 is an easy engine to work on,you will have no real problems.Oh,one last thing...the front crankshaft bolt is very tight, I loosened mine using the starter motor before I removed the engine.With the motor out you will struggle.I was advised that the tool to use is a 'torque multiplyer',but I have never seen such a tool...

Er..yes chu,I have one of those,but with the engine on the garage floor the whole lot turns over......the bolt in question is torqued to 400 ft/pd.....or blo£$y tight!!

That's the only difficult part,if your eta short motor checks out OK,you will not have to disturb it.You can remove the crank with this bolt in place,but it brings the front oil seal and it's mounting plate with it,not much use to the crank regrinding place...but you can do shells etc.
