I went to do the "strap on turbo mod" to start with.

I ended up thinking i would need to re-do the engine anyway to make it worthwhile.

I then decided to go for the 335i route, tweak that and get similar returns anyway.

Then i decided i may as well turbo that.

In the end i backed off the latter as reliability, getting certain parts further uprated etc, and cash came into question.

Either conversion can be done really cheap, but most people forget about wheel/ tyres, brakes, suspension, bushes, etc etc that really should be uprated at the same time.

I put the 335i in, and decided i wanted bigger brakes, i had to space my 18" wheels out to get the brakes in the wheels, so that left my front wheels sticking out, i had to fit bigger front arches (m3) which led to a complete 3 kit going on. That led to the idea if it can go and stop, it may as well corner as well, whcih lead to a custom coilover setup, custom anti-roll bars, and a whole laod of costs i wasn't expecting.

You don't have to this crazy route, but before you do, put on a piece of paper what you want, and be as conservative as you can. otherwise you will end up spending a fortune, and have "upgrades" chasing eachother to end up with some resemblance of a balanced car.

Its mental yes, but sadly its more mental for who actually owns it. I look at the original and think "why did i even start"!

I'll be glad when its done, but its been going on for years now. I am literally jsut starting to get the leather re-trim back, after a near court battle, and sadly, the original re-trimme dieing (no joke).

Propshaft hoping to get back end of month (when i can afford to pay for it), and then its a case of putting it all back together. Hard works done, but its the fiddly things i hate. There's a few posts i made on the styling/ ice section, and they have pics for a bloke there who wants to know what an m3 kit looks like on a non m3 car etc. Check that out. I have over 1600 photo's so i can't post them all, although i may actually do this when its finished as a celebration thread lol!!!

although by then it will be more like 3000 photo's!!!
