At the minute I havent got a clue what I want to do withcars so I'm exploring several options at once, one of which is to turbo my M10 316.
I understand the basic principals of how a turbo works but I get confused when it comes to the management.
From my limited knowledge, the carb fed M10 doesnt have an ECu which can be upgraded and it will need a throttle body and an after market Management system.
Is this correct and also, are there places where I can buy this throttle body or would I have to/get one fabricated?
Also how difficult is it to fit the management system. I dont want to have to fork out unnecessarily for someone else to do it if its not too hard
M10 turbo question

It's all about the learning curve. I hope santa will bring me a megasquirt system to start learning about engine management. How difficult is it? That will always depend on your existing knowledge and ability to learn - sorry if I'm stating the obvious. Search around this topic and you will be able to judge for yourself. Those that have understood management systems say that the time spent is worth the investment for the joy of all that knowledge at your disposal.
It would also mean on this car you'd need either to continue using carbs with turbo or upgrade to fuel injection.
What about your twin side draft carb set up mate? That sounded far more viable.

far more viable but the carbs I had weren't the right ones for the car, joys of ebay I suppose
can I use a turbo with the existing or upgraded weber carbs then? I thought I would have to convert to efi to use the existing ecu for the spark?
Thats more what I was after finding out, not so much about the building a MS system, but more could I use it with carbs?
